🌊 Marine Carbon Removal Fireside | Hosted by Seoi.Cure CDR x Women in Carbon

We hosted a lab-scale event for a big, planetary challenge — and it worked. 🌊

Yesterday’s Marine CDR Fireside Chat brought together a dynamic mix of scientists, founders, investors, and funders for two hours of real talk on what it actually takes to launch and scale ocean-based carbon removal.

We had a few hiccups at the start (the tech gremlins showed up early), and we started a bit later than planned — but thanks to the collective energy in the room, we finished on time and covered everything we hoped to.

Judging from the Menti results, most people came in curious about the sector… and left excited.
✅ Panelists dialed in from across the world — huge thanks to Alicia Karspeck, PhD (joining at 7am from Colorado!) and M. Grace Andrews in New York. Not to mention our in person panelists Sophie Gill, Ph.D. for bringing in on the ground scientific insights, Audrey GOLDSTEIN and Olia Filippova for bringing in the data and facts from their financing / funding lens.
✅ We explored salty takes, cold data, a $1M startup design sprint, and yes — real fruit-fuelled breakout groups.
✅ Someone even described marine CDR as a new wave of music genre.

This was our first “lab-scale” event — small group, high interaction, co-created energy. And what we heard, again and again, was:

“We need more conversations like this.”
So we will.
